The Beat represents the most significant investment in residential development in South Side since the 1.2 million square foot renovation of the historic Sears and Roebuck building, now South Side on Lamar, in 1999. Today over 1,000 residents live in 450 loft apartments.

Construction of the Beat Condos follows a series of South Side developments including
the grand opening of the Palladium Ballroom by AEG (Anschutz Entertainment Group) and extensive renovations of Gilleys Dallas; the relocation of Bill's Records and Tapes to 1401
S. Lamar; down the street from the New Omni Convention Center Hotel – opening 2011; and the announcement of the relocation of Dallas County Community College District administrative offices to South Side on Lamar, just to name a few.

In the near future, the nearby Trinity River Corridor will connect residents with the city's energy. The project will create a magnificent recreation and urban open space amenity - without equal in any American city - and will be the new centerpiece of a major urban region.
